How to make idly rava at home:
Urad dal is available at any grocery store, but idly rava is not available at all the places. So we can make rava at home from rice. Wash and soak rice(ponni rice) for 2 hours. Drain and spread it in a clean cloth, dry it over sunlight or under the fan. Blend to a fine powder and seive it. Again dry and store in an airtight container, can use for 3 or 4 months.
To make idli in easy steps. Soak urad dal and idly rava, grind to a smooth batter. Squeeze and mix the rava. Ferment for 7 hours or overnight. Place the idli batter in molds, cook in the steamer for 10 minutes. Dip the idli in milk, mash it and serve for kids. These helps to fulfill the stomach and it’s a oil free healthy recipe. - urad dal(minnapappu) – 3 cups
- idly rava(rice rava) – 5 cups
- oil – 2 spoons
- water – 3 glasses

Wash and soak 3 cups of urad dal for atleast 3 hours.

Squeeze the rava and remove dirt. Soak 5 cups of idli rava for 10 minutes or more.

Drain off the water, add soaked urad dal to the blender.

Blend to a smooth batter in a mixer or grinder.

Pour little water if necessary. Do not make it runny consistency.

Transfer the batter to a large bowl.

Squeeze the water in rava and add to the batter.

Mix well both of them.

Close the lid and ferment the idli batter for 7 hours or over night.
