Ingredients

Ingredients for bajra roti:

  • Water - 1 cup
  • Pearl millet(bajra flour) - 1 cup(sajja pindi)
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red chilli powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Ghee - 2 tablespoons

Instructions

Procedure for bajra roti recipe:

Making dough:

  1. Boil a cup of water then switch off the fire.

  2. Add a cup of pearl millet(bajra flour).

  3. Mix immediately with the help of the spatula.

  4. Make sure there are no lumps.

  5. When it is slightly warm then transfer it into a bowl.

  6. Add 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of red chilli powder and a tablespoon of ghee.

  7. knead the dough until it is soft and pliable.

  8. You can mix pearl millet flour if necessary.

  9. Cover it with a damp cloth and let it rest for 5 minutes.

Rolling:

  1. Divide the dough into 5 equal portions and shape each portion into a round ball.

  2. On a floured surface, dust the flour and roll each ball into a flat disc or as roti.

Frying:

  1. Heat a tawa on medium flame and place the roti on tawa.

  2. Do not flip the roti immediately cook for about one minute.

  3. Fry until golden spots appear.

  4. Then flip it over and cook the other side for about one minute.

  5. Brush a tablespoon of ghee/oil on both sides of the roti.

  6. Flip and fry on both sides until it turns golden.

  7. Take it into a serving plate.

  8. Similarly fry rest of the roti's.

  9. Serve bajra roti/sajja rotte with any veg or non-veg curry.
